Terms & Conditions
← homeLast updated: 2026-04-20 · Effective: 2026-04-20
These Terms & Conditions (the "Terms") govern your access to and use of Codeddit (the "Service"), operated by the Codeddit team ("we", "us"). By creating an account, signing in, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Plain-English draft. A counsel-reviewed version will replace this before public launch; material changes will be announced under §15.
1. Eligibility & acceptance
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account, and at least the age of majority in your jurisdiction if that is higher. By using the Service you represent that (a) you meet the age requirement, (b) you are not barred from using it under applicable law, and (c) your use will comply with these Terms and all laws that apply to you.
If you use the Service on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation and references to "you" include that entity.
2. Your account
- Credentials. Keep your password and any session tokens confidential. You are responsible for all activity under your account.
- Accuracy. Provide accurate information at sign-up and keep it current (email, payout address).
- One account per person unless we explicitly allow otherwise. No ban evasion.
- Notify us promptly at
security@codeddit.comif you suspect unauthorised access.
3. Your content & licence to us
You own what you post. Posts, comments, votes, saves and any other submissions ("User Content") remain yours.
You grant Codeddit a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sub-licensable licence to host, store, reproduce, display, distribute, index, create search previews of, and adapt your User Content solely to operate, improve and promote the Service (for example: rendering your post on other users' feeds, showing it in search results, including it in a link preview you generate).
This licence ends when you delete the content, except (a) for copies already shared with third parties while the content was public, (b) for backups retained for a reasonable period for disaster recovery, and (c) where retention is required by law.
You represent that you have all rights necessary to grant this licence and that your User Content does not infringe anyone's rights.
4. Acceptable use
You will not, and will not attempt to:
- post content that is illegal, defamatory, fraudulent, or that sexually exploits minors;
- post malware, phishing content, or links that attempt to harm users;
- spam, vote-manipulate, brigade, or use bots or multiple accounts to influence rankings;
- scrape, crawl or harvest data from the Service except as permitted by a published API, and never in a way that disrupts other users;
- reverse-engineer, probe for vulnerabilities, or disrupt the integrity of the Service (responsible disclosure is welcome — see §16);
- harass, threaten or dox other users;
- impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation;
- use the Service to distribute sanctioned or export-controlled content in violation of applicable law.
5. Moderation & enforcement
We may, at our sole discretion and without prior notice: remove User Content; shadow-hide it from feeds; rate-limit, warn, suspend or terminate accounts; and refuse service to anyone. Enforcement decisions are not guaranteed to be consistent, timely, or explained. You may appeal an enforcement action by emailing appeals@codeddit.com; we aim to review appeals within 14 days but do not commit to a specific outcome.
6. Bounties & Bitcoin payouts
Certain posts may carry user-funded bounties paid in Bitcoin. By enabling a bounty you authorise Codeddit to escrow and release funds per the bounty's published rules.
- Payout address. The Bitcoin address you enter in Settings is the only destination for your payouts. You confirm the address is under your sole control.
- Irreversibility. Bitcoin transactions are irreversible. Payouts to an incorrect address cannot be recovered by us.
- Minimums & fees. Network fees are deducted from payouts. We may set minimum payout thresholds.
- Eligibility. Bounties may be withheld if the underlying activity violates these Terms or applicable law.
7. Fees, taxes & non-custody
Using the Service is free today; paid features may be introduced with notice. You are solely responsible for any taxes arising from payouts you receive. We do not provide tax advice and do not perform KYC beyond what is required by law.
We are not a money-services business and do not custody user funds beyond short-lived escrow for active bounties. You must not use the Service for money transmission, money laundering, or sanctioned transactions.
8. Intellectual property & DMCA
Codeddit, its logo, and the non-user-contributed portions of the Service are protected by copyright and other IP laws. Except for rights expressly granted here, no licence to our IP is implied.
If you believe User Content infringes your copyright, send a notice with the elements required by 17 U.S.C. §512(c)(3) to dmca@codeddit.com. Repeat infringers' accounts will be terminated under our policy.
9. Third-party services
The Service integrates third-party providers — for example: Cloudflare (edge + object storage), Stripe (any future paid features), Resend (transactional email), Sentry / GlitchTip (error traces), Plausible or PostHog (analytics), Trigger.dev (background jobs). Their terms and privacy policies apply when you interact with features they power. We are not responsible for third-party services' uptime, security or data practices beyond our reasonable choice of vendor.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory or otherwise, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, or uninterrupted operation. We do not warrant that User Content is accurate, lawful or non-misleading.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Codeddit and its contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or loss of profits, revenues, data, goodwill or Bitcoin value, arising out of or relating to your use of the Service. Our aggregate liability for any claim shall not exceed the greater of (a) USD 100 and (b) the amounts you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. Some jurisdictions do not permit certain exclusions — in that case, the limits apply to the fullest extent legally allowed.
12. Indemnification
You will indemnify and hold harmless Codeddit and its contributors against any claims, damages and costs (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of (a) User Content you submit, (b) your breach of these Terms, or (c) your violation of law or third-party rights.
13. Termination
You may terminate your account at any time via Settings. We may suspend or terminate your access immediately if we reasonably believe you violated these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (licences you granted us in content still shared, §§3, 7, 8, 10–12, 14, 16) will survive.
14. Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the Codeddit operating entity is established (to be specified before launch), excluding its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the competent courts of that jurisdiction, unless mandatory consumer-protection law provides otherwise. You agree to first attempt informal resolution by emailing legal@codeddit.com and waiting 30 days before filing a claim.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. For material changes we will post a notice on the site and/or email registered users at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance. If you do not accept, stop using the Service and delete your account.
16. Miscellaneous & contact
- Entire agreement. These Terms plus the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service.
- Severability. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remainder continues in effect.
- No waiver. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver.
- Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign freely, e.g. in a corporate reorganisation.
- Responsible disclosure. Report security issues to
security@codeddit.com. We do not pursue legal action against good-faith researchers who follow the policy. - General contact.
